Pastor Mark Timmer grew up on a small farm in western Michigan. Mark attended Zeeland Christian Schools and Holland Christian High School. He received a B.A. in Greek from Calvin College and a Masters in Divinity from Calvin Theological Seminary (located in Grand Rapids, Michigan). During seminary he served churches in Michigan, Alaska, Florida and Nova Scotia.

Mark and his wife, Bonnie, and their three children reside in Tinley Park.

Pastor Mark served as a church planter in McMinnville, Oregon, and in Bartlett, Illinois. He also pastored Hillcrest Church in Denver, Colorado, for nine years before coming to Faith Church in 2007.

Pastor Mark has been active beyond the local church by being involved in community planning and helping to coach a variety of sports (nearly everything but curling!). He has participated in local ministerial associations, served the church regionally on committees and boards and has also served the denomination by participating in the annual synod three times.

Pastor Mark stays active with walking, biking, and various sports (often with his kids), and finding ways to avoid camping. (He is thinking about starting a support group for non-campers). He also likes to read and do projects around the house.

Pastor Mark grew up in a Christian family and has always had an interest in understanding the Christian faith. It was really in college that his faith became more alive. His passion is helping people to understand the faith better and also to make the church a real community of believers. He often says that church is not our activity but our identity.
