WALK OUT WORSHIP

Walk Out Worship is still seeking 2 assistants to finish out the year. These two assistants would work with the present 2 coordinators prior to the present coordinators stepping down.  Come the fall, we will need an additional 2 assistants, to help the, then, present coordinators.  The rotation for the 4 coordinators works very well, with 2 current coordinators along with 2 new assistants learning for a smooth transition.

Walk Out Worship serves as a wonderful growing tool for the children.  They love to sing and be with friends as they learn about the Bible.  Please prayerfully consider this ministry blessing with the children.  Give Wilma P. or Sue K. a call if you are interested!

STORY HOUR NEWS

So far, Story Hour has a total of 34 children enrolled.  Each week about 25 of the children arrive ready to hear a wonderful Bible story. When the children first arrive they put on a name tag and have free playtime in the Fellowship Hall.  They color pictures, do puzzles, play with Play Dough, bean bag toss, and any number of other activities.  At about 9:50 the leaders ring the clean-up bell and get ready to do a stretching song with the kids.  Then we go into the choir room to sing some Bible songs, do finger rhymes, and talk about what Bible story will be read that day.  Then we split up and go into separate rooms to hear the Bible story, eat a snack, and make a craft.

Mrs. Wilma P. and Mrs. Jan B. ( who also plays piano for us) are the leaders for the three-year-old class.  Mrs. Nancy T. and Mrs. Deb L. are the leaders for the four-year-old class.  Four-year-old class attendance has consistently been at least ten kids each Wednesday.  Mrs. Karen B. and Mrs. Doris T. are the leaders for the five-year-old class.  Mrs. Mary D. has taken over as Director of Story Hour.  Special thanks to Dawn T. for helping to organize all the Story Hour material.  Dawn was the Director of Story Hour for 11 years.  All the leaders are very thankful for her hard work and dedication.

Story Hour is a great way to let children know about the Bible.  We also encourage the children to talk to God through prayer.  Each week the kids get a Bible story card to take home and keep in a binder.  So even if they don’t have a family Bible, they have a copy of familiar stories.  In the last five weeks the kids have been hearing about how God keeps His promises.  They’ve learned that God uses people to do His work.

In December, our Christmas story was told in three parts.  On December 15 the kids sang to their moms and had a birthday party for baby Jesus.

Story Hour appreciates your prayers and support all year long.  Stop by any Wednesday morning from 9-11 a.m. to check us out!

SOMETHING’S NEW
at Evening Coffee Break

v     Do you sometimes think you’d just like to know the Bible better?

v     Do you sometimes feel like you need to renew, or start, or deepen what’s between you and God?

v     Do you think a Bible study with other women would be a neat way to do this?

v     Have you been thinking about someone you know who needs a Bible study?

v     Have you thought about Evening Coffee Break?

TWO REASONS
TO CONSIDER STARTING EVENING
COFFEE BREAK THIS MARCH

1.                  A fresh new start in a new study book.

2.                  The new study book is “Discover Easter”—just in time to help us reflect on His Resurrection this Lenten season!

SOMETHING’S THE SAME
at Evening Coffee Break Also

WHICH GIVES US MORE REASONS
TO START THIS MARCH:

3.                  Evening CB offers a time slot that works well for working women and other women who are otherwise unable to attend a daytime Bible study.

4.                  No preparation is needed at Evening CB meets only the first 3 Mondays of the month, making it possible to be in God’s Word, along with other women, despite busy schedules!

5.                  You can bring your children.  We would need to know ahead of time how many children are expected, so sufficient care can be provided.

6.                  No need to make supper on Evening CB nights—a soup supper is provided for you and the children!

7.                  A moderate aerobics class is available before the Bible study begins, led by aerobics instructor and Evening CB leader, Sandee DJ.

We’re excited about what God may have planned for Evening CB!  Hope to see you there.  Tell someone else about it!  Pray with us for His blessings!

“Discover Easter” will begin the first Monday in March.  Aerobics is offered from 6-7 p.m.  Bible study is from 7-8 p.m.

COFFEE BREAK/STORY HOUR

What does Coffee Break and Story Hour look like in the new millennium?  Probably not much different than in the past.  Most Wednesday mornings and Monday evenings women, children, and one very special pastor gather to share the Word of God.

Both sessions of Coffee Break have been studying Acts.  We’ve seen the new church grow from a small group of Jewish believers to an international, multi-cultural miracle that shares the gospel wherever they go.  They continue to grow despite fierce persecution.  They perform amazing things like raising the dead and healing the sick, but also care for each other by sewing clothes and taking offerings for those in need.  God has shown such love and faithfulness to this church and the Holy Spirit has shown them so many truths.  It’s really been exciting to see the growth and the opportunities God presented them with.

In December we also celebrated Christmas together.  The Story Hour children once again captivated us with their songs and messages, and we shared cookies and fun before taking a holiday break.  We took an offering for new bedding and pillows for the children at Hogar de Ninos and thanks, especially, to some very dear Story Hour children who went door to door in their neighborhood; we have $330 for this cause.

Please remember that anyone at anytime is welcome to join Coffee Break/ Story Hour and enjoy some very meaningful fellowship.

Hello All!  We are so fortunate to live in a country which is so rich in food.  When you really think of it all food is good as long as you have enough of it to eat.  We are all truly blessed!  Eet Smakelijk!

             *  *    if you are just a bit older

Damon's is located right on Harlem Avenue in Orland Park.  As luck would have it, the night we went was their one-year anniversary.  The restaurant has a very comfortable feel.  One side is more of the party atmosphere and the other is for the quiet dinners.  This side includes a fireplace.  On the party side they have big screens set up and sports trivia on most of them.  You can request a computer keyboard and play against the house.  This is a really nice thing for a first date, or for you married folks who run out of things to talk about.  It reminds me of that television show "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?"  Everyone can play and test their knowledge.

On Wednesday nights they have a special kids night.  The children's menu starts at 1.99 and they have live entertainment.  Balloon animals, Jell-O eating contests, kids trivia and cartoons are to name a few of the attractions.  They were very kid friendly and the wait staff was excellent.

Damon's is a franchise, but Tinley Park is privately owned by Jerry LaRose.  There are 136 restaurants nation-wide.  The original restaurant came from Columbus, Ohio.  The specialty of the house is their ribs or their prime rib.   They have a large menu from sandwiches starting at $5.99 to dinners of ribs and shrimp at $16.49.

The atmosphere was a lively one, and everyone seemed to have a great time!  We will be back to enjoy the kids’ night out and to try more of the dinners!

Price Range:     $5.99 - 17.99.  A great variety of food something for everyone!

Service:            Excellent!  From the manager to the waiter couldn't have asked for better.

Kid Friendly:    Yes!  Even having a special night just for them.

Rating:              1 to 5 stars, with 5 begin the highest rating!

 What If

What if,

God couldn’t take the time to bless us today because we couldn’t take the time to thank Him yesterday?

What if,

God decided to stop leading us tomorrow because we didn’t follow Him today?

What if,

we never saw another flower bloom because we grumbled when God sent the rain?

What if,

God didn’t walk with us today because we failed to recognize it as His day?

What if,

God took away the Bible tomorrow because we would not read it today?

What if,

God would not hear us today because we would not listen to Him yesterday?

What if,

God answered our prayers the way we answer His call to service?

BE A STAR FOR JESUS!
VBS 2000

The date has been set for June 19-23 and the theme this year is “Be A Star for Jesus”.  The crafts, music and decorations have been chosen and all we need is energetic bodies to bring it all to life!

Remember Young People, you can get service hours for helping out with VBS and have a great time too!  Sign up posters will be going up soon, or you can contact Mary D. or Lisa E. to save your spot on our team.  Lets all be stars for Jesus and give the kids a great week here at Faith Church!

CAMPING 2000

Hello!  Its time to start thinking about Church Camp-Out 2000.  The dates have been set for August 11 and 12 at Timber-Lee Campground.  The site this year will be closer to the general store and playground.  This is a wonderful spot for the more seasoned campers.  You see when it rains and their charcoal gets ALL wet---they are closer to the store to buy more.

Last year was my first year camping, and it was an experience I will never forget.  The campgrounds are just beautiful and very clean.  The lake and beach were also very clean and quite large.  My sons enjoyed the fishing action, and my daughter was in heaven with all the “sisters” around.  Everyone helped everyone set up their camps and it wasn’t long before the grills were going.  As evening approached we gathered around the campfire and began passing the marshmallows around.  What was that we heard?  Thunder?  No, just an airplane, I bet.  Nope, it was thunder.  The skies opened up and it poured all night.  It finally stopped by late morning and we all enjoyed the day.  At night we had a chicken dinner and candy Bingo.  The campfire that night was wonderful.  Joan brought her guitar, and people actually stopped by to tell us how great it sounded.  The night owls stayed by the fire late and were treated by visits of a neighborhood raccoon.  Then the rain came again.  This time it wouldn’t let up.  Mr. & Mrs. G. demonstrated the latest in Bag wear, and Carol D. showed the kids how to slide down a soaked hill with only a Hefty bag.  (This is on video and available by request.)

We all really had fun in spite of the rain.  The seasoned campers assured me that this had never happened before.  I think they ordered it on purpose to see if I’d crack under pressure.  Well guess what guys!  We will be back this year, and I hope you will all consider coming.  It’s a great time, and oh, don’t worry, I’ll bring a camera again.
